The DRP (Deutsches Reichs Postschutz--German Postal Protection Service) was a small branch providing armed protection of the post, telegraph, and telephone service throughout Germany. The organization was an auxialiary to the Ordnungspolizei and during the war were absorbed into the SS. They carried a non-military proofed bayonet made by one of 2 makers, and this is a textbook example of the KS 98 bayonet made by Paul Weyersberg. The blade is correctly marked with the Weyersberg commercial trademark and is organizationally marked DRP and serial numbered. The finish is excellent plus plus, the blade is bright, and the scabbard retains 99% of its original painted finish. The bayonet has not been cleaned but has survived in amazing condition. A choice and rare beauty that is bargain priced!
