The Army Marksmanship Lanyards were instituted to replace the Weimar Marksmanship sleeve stripes. This is an example of the 2nd style lanyard grade 1. This is a great quality example with bright bullion and oakleaf wreath, crossed swords and eagle badge. The badge shows a bit of patina in the recesses, and the field grey wool backing has a few moth nips. The entire reverse of the braided portion is covered with silver grey artificial silk, which helped to protect the tunic from residue from the bullion. Overall the piece shows very minor age and the moth nips, but displays well. A wonderful example!
