Germans there would bring back souvenirs, which in this case, takes the form of this hand-sword, called a Kaskara. It is fit into a scabbard constructed of a small crocodile (genuine). This type of sword is common to the Sudan region, an area relevant to German colonial interests. The piece was purchased in a Hotel Buy a few years ago in the mid-west, having been a bring-back from a US Soldier serving in Germany during WWII. Probably one of the most unique swords on the market, certainly one of a kind.
