The 1936 pattern NSKK dagger rarely survives in good condition due to the fragility of the plating on the exterior, and the fact that the chain is continually resting against the black scabbard paint. Well, this specimen is different. Other than some minor abrasive marks to the fittings, chain and scabbard, this piece has been preserved exceptionally well. Paint grades 99% with only light crazing, and plating is 100% intact, and only shows uniform, general wear. Wood grip is perfect, as is the inset eagle and SA rune. The near-mint blade shows only minor runner marks, as it has a very gentle "slide" into the scabbard itself. Obverse motto is crisp with an undisturbed matte-grey acid finish to the letters. Reverse exhibits the Eickhorn RZM code (7/66) along with the date of manufacture: 1941. Overall, a top quality specimen, available at a reasonable price.
