REFERENCE ONLY. (SOLD or NOT FOR SALE)
This outstanding helmet is a Luftwaffe single decal M-40, with a mustard tan camouflage finish. Paint is approximately 75% to 80% present, and there is a good deal of "bleed through" rust beneath the paint, which attests to its originality. According to Kelly Hicks, who certified this helmet with a physical in-hand inspection, the liner has what he calls the "desert mummified' appearance. This is an important element to adjudicating the authenticity of a helmet like this. Liner is original to the helmet, and comes with Kelly Hicks' certificate of authenticity, in addition to my own. (Please note: the photo in the Kelly Hicks Certificate seems to be missing the chinstrap. In actuality, the chinstrap is not very tightly stretched across the lip of the helmet and easily slips underneath. This is the same helmet.)
