A mid to later war example of the Luftwaffe pilot's badge that appears never to have been worn. Both wreath and eagle are of Feinzink (zinc alloy) with excellent details. The badge retains more of the factory applied finish than is usually seen. The rivets are still tight. The badge is not maker marked, which is correct for this pattern. Based on the reverse hardware, this type of badge has been attributed to FLL (Friedrich Linden, Ludenscheid). Rarer than the badge is the cardboard shipping box, which normally would be discarded by the recipient. It's marked 'Luftwaffe Flugzeugführer Abzeichen' on the top and, as can be seen in the images, the box is somewhat crushed. Luckily the box damage is relatively minor and it displays very well.
