Extremely rare accoutrement to find on the open market. These are so much rarer than the Officer knots. Some believe these were for bayonets, others for the NCO sword. In my opinion, either could be the case. Knot shows very light soiling throughout (no stains, just uniform grime), and no wear at all. This is a mint-state accoutrement.
