REFERENCE ONLY. (SOLD or NOT FOR SALE) An outstanding example of the Weimar Period Police Clamshell Bayonet. Because the short model Police sidearms were private purchase items, their quality and finish are often much better than that of the standard issue pieces. This beauty is no exception, and it has survived in outstanding condition. The bright blade is near mint with only very light in and out marks keeping it from full mint condition. The blade has the struck early Eickhorn marking. The clamshell features a very nicely sculpted Weimar style eagle and retains its deluxe heavy factory plated finish. The grip bears the Weimar police eagle in a star. The eagle head pommel is artfully modeled and has been hand finished and includes some hand engraved details to the feathering. Scabbard leather is solid and retains its original stitching, and nickeled fittings with the fancier cupid's bow edgework. The bayonet shows light wear and use, but was obviously highly prized and well taken care of by its original owner. ![]() |
