Craig Gottlieb Militaria

REFERENCE ONLY. (SOLD or NOT FOR SALE)
The Reichsverband für Hundewesen was originally formed in 1939 and was placed initially under Wehrmacht supervision.  The bred dogs were examined for military use, and of 16,000 dogs strenuously tested,  18.8% were found to be suitable for military service.  In 1941, by decree of Himmler, the R.H. was put under the jurisdiction of the SS.  This award was produced by one of the most prestigious German porcelain makers, K.P.M. and is marked with their scepter logo on the reverse.  The plaque was awarded for "Hervorragende Leistung  - Reichsverband für Hundewesen" (Outstanding achievement) and features an eagle's head over a swastika in an oakleaf and acorn design.  The piece is in excellent condition, and is still housed in its original brown leatherette presentation case.  A scarce award for service to the Reich!
