REFERENCE ONLY. (SOLD or NOT FOR SALE)
A fine example of a cased 1939 Iron Cross I. class in the correct maker marked presentation case. The cross has a magnetic core with 99% of its original finish (only the edges of the swastika are lightly worn). The frame is still bright with well defined beading and is a textbook Meybauer. The tapered pin is stamped "L/13", which was the LDO code for Meybauer. The leatherette covered hard case shows wear to the exterior and some light rust patina to the magnetic hinges. The interior of the lid is lined with off white artificial silk and is marked "Paul Meybauer Berlin" in black, and shows the impressed outline of the beaded frame of the cross. The base has a raised dias with off white velvet or flocking. Overall the ensemble shows light age and the cross may have been worn, but it has survived in excellent condition. Not a mint, frosty piece, but a strong representation of the Meybauer cross.
