Craig Gottlieb Militaria

THIS ITEM IS SOLD. CONTACT ME TO OWN IT, OR ONE LIKE IT.
Zeitner was the "court silversmith" of the Third Reich, and produced many beautiful patterns for the various German heads of state, including Hitler's personal silver. Housed behind period glass, and period mounted, is a 6x8 studio portrait of Herman Goering wearing his Grand Cross and Pour Le Merite. The matting features a hand-dedication in Goering's own writing. It is dedicated to the wife of an important industrialist on 12 July 1943. This would make an excellent pairing for any other silver framed photographs (including the Hitler example that I just sold!). The photo is in superb shape, with one small nick to the left of Goering's face. As it is a nick to the background of the photo, it could be repaired with no trace of the repair remaining. In addition, the frame could be beautifully polished if you chose to do so. However, it retains decades of patina, and I will leave it as-is. I can have it polished for the new owner, but will leave that for him/her to decide.
