The large bullion eagles worn on the dress Officer's cape are some of the most striking Luftwaffe insignia.  They vary in quality and workmanship, and this is a very high quality example.  The eagle is hand worked in 5 different types of bullion, with careful attention given to each feather, talon, and the head. The base fabric is Luftwaffe blue/grey trikot wool, and the piece reatains its dark paper backing.  There is a number '15' inked on the reverse.  The stitching holes around the circumference indicate that the eagle was originally sewn to an officer's cape, and there are a couple of bits of the original attachment thread still present. The bullion has some oxidation, primarily in the valleys between the coils of bullion, but there is still lots of sparkle to the majority of the bullion.  I've priced the eagle to reflect the oxidation, although it displays beautifully and as you can see from these photographs, it still looks great! This eagle has an impressive wingspan of 7 inches and is 4.5 inches tall.
