Craig Gottlieb Militaria

The first 3 campaign medals awarded during the late 1930s were called 'flower war' decorations, as the streets were strewn with flower petals and there was virtually no actual fighting. This is the award for the Austrian Anschluss, after which Austria became part of GroƟdeutschland. The medal is silvered with its original factory applied patinated finish intact. The ribbon is bright, and it's still mounted with its original pinback attachment. The red leatherette covered case has a gold national eagle and swastika on the lid, and while the exterior shows some handling and wear to the leatherette, the interior is in excellent condition. The medal was probably never worn, and exhibits only a bit of age. An impressive little gem, and still very affordable for a cased award!
