REFERENCE ONLY. (SOLD or NOT FOR SALE)
The special electrically heated flying boots were worn with the electrically heated flight suit or combi, and this pair is in much better condition than most I've seen. The construction is of black leather for the shoe area and dark suede for the shafts. Electrical elements are enclosed in the boot with the standard Luftwaffe press-stud connectors at the top. These would snap onto the matching connectors on the trousers. The soles are of rubber or, more likely, Buna rubber material, and as you can see from the photos, show only the slightest wear with the raised dot pattern and manufacturer name intact. The zippers still function and are in fine condition with no missing teeth and with both leather pulls intact. There is a small suede patch to the right boot just above the center seam of the shaft which appears to be a period repair. The boots show age, some surface oxidation to some of the snaps and some abrading to the black finish of the leather from flight use, but overall appear to have been worn very little, or at least only worn in and around the aircraft. A superior pair perfect for a Luftwaffe flier display!
