A very uncommon parade dress brocade belt and buckle for an officer of the Braunschweig Infantry Regiment 92. This regiment is perhaps best known as a Tradition unit that wore the Totenkopf, or skull with crossed bones, on their spiked helmet plates, caps, and, as here, on the officer's dress belt buckle. The buckle is fire gilt with a beautifully detailed silver Braunschweig skull and crossed bones in the center. The skull is attached to the gilt buckle via 3 bent prongs. The belt is silver brocade with 2 medium blue stripes, and a medium blue fine wool backing. It's complete with both slides, which are also wool backed. The belt and buckle likely date from 1900 or earlier, but would have been worn throughout the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The blue is slightly faded and overall the set shows age, but the condition is excellent considering it's over 100 years old!
