Body is entirely moth and damage free. White piping is shows minor yellowing, but no moth damage. Black velvet band is tight. Brocade chinstrap is the correct size for this visor, suggesting that it is original to the piece. The aluminum interior of the left chinstrap keeper extends about 2mm out of the bullion weave - a very minor defect, but one that does not detract. Buttons are RZM marked. Insignia are late zinc, with about 90% or better silver finish remaining. Interior is lined with a gold rayon/silk lining. Thin tan sweatband is torn on one side, shows some minor wrinkles, but is all present, and still sewn down intact. Sweatshield is 100% present, uncracked. About 20% of it has come unsewn. Overall, a textbook example of a later war contract-type piece. There are two other SS visors on the market that I know of, and this one is priced exactly in the middle of the two - and it's by far the best example of the three. So it's fair to say that this visor is, by comparison, attractively priced.
